Medicare Information

Especially important for those starting Medicare.

The choice of plans you make when beginning Medicare can limit the choices you have the rest of your life. Certain Plans (like Plan F, which pays all your medical expenses except prescriptions without any deductibles) must be chosen when you begin Medicare.  Under certain very limited circumstances you can change plans after you are enrolled.

Remember: the plans the insurance companies encourage you to buy are the ones most profitable to the insurance companies. They may not be the best for you. The Medicare Advantage Plans are very, very profitable to the Insurance Companies, but the patient may be liable for $6,000 or more in deductibles and co-pays in a year.

The commissions the insurance companies pay to insurance agents for Medicare Advantage Plans are twice as much as are paid for other plans. Many insurance agents will steer you toward the Advantage plans.

If you call the Insurance Companies directly they will steer you toward the policies that are most profitable to the insurance companies.

"Medicare Primer" is a booklet that explains the options and pitfalls of the many supplemental plans offered by insurance companies. The online version is only $10. The author is Joe Clark and he lives in Denver   Joe is a licensed insurance agent and is available to talk to you about your options. Joe is at 303-886-2229,  Click here to order booklet  http://www.medicareprimer.com/

I strongly encourage you to talk to one or more licensed insurance agent before beginning Medicare and each year before renewing.
